Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea became a member of the APG in December 2008.

Papua New Guinea is developing its anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrrorism system. Papua New Guinea has not yet ratified the UN Vienna Convention 1988 but has passed an anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism law (2005).

Papua New Guinea has established a Financial Intelligence Unit and is currenlty developing this unit to meet global standards. Papua New Guinea's 3rd Round APG MER was adopted by the APG membership in September 2024. The 2024 MER provides a snapshot of Papua New Guinea's system as at the date of the onsite visit in October 2023.
