Joint FATF/GAFISUD Plenary and Working Group Meetings, Mexico, 20-24 June

24 June, 2011

The next FATF Plenary and Working Group Meetings (and joint meeting with the Financial Action Task Force of South America Against Money Laundering (GAFISUD))  will be held in Mexico, Mexico City from 20 - 24 June 2011.  The Presidency of the FATF was assumed in July last year by Mexico and is chaired by Mr Luis Urrutia Corral.

The FATF is an inter-governmental body consisting of 34 member-jurisdictions and a number of observers. It is the global standard setter for anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism. The FATF has a number of working groups including the Working Group on Terrorist Financing, the Working Group on Evaluations and Implementations, the International Cooperation Review Group and the Working Group on Typologies.  These working groups consist of international experts drawn from FATF member countries who collectively contribute to key policy decisions of the FATF.

The APG is an Associate Member of FATF and actively participates in the FATF Plenary and Working Group Meetings.  APG members are able to attend FATF events.  Any nominations by APG member jurisdictions for attendance at FATF meetings must be made through the APG Secretariat.
